Project brief

A solution tailored to the facility, housing technology and future installation.

Comprehensive interior equipment for a new livestock facility. After a detailed review of the customer's technical specifications, UFSP engineered a strategic zoning scheme. This approach was designed to streamline processes and maximize ergonomic performance across the entire complex. The design is built around real-world animal husbandry practices: comfort in the resting area, unobstructed access to the feeding zone, controlled transitions between zones, and equipment resistance to moisture and the harsh farm environment.

Key zones and technical solutions

The template is designed for a structured presentation of the task, the structural solution and the technical standards of each individual project.

Stalls

Resting area

To ensure 12–14 hours of daily rest—which is critical for maximizing milk yields—we selected solutions tailored to the physiological parameters of the herd.

  • Stall Divider Type: “Comfort” with open front for unobstructed exit
  • Dimensions: length L=2000 mm and L=2150 mm
  • Construction: ergonomically bent tubes featuring weld-free surfaces in contact zones for maximum animal safety and comfort.
  • Installation: reinforced support posts (76mm and 89mm diameter) equipped with plastic caps and heat-shrink tubing

Feeding table

To ensure seamless access to the feed alley, we implemented a versatile solution designed to accommodate livestock across different age categories.

  • Solution: adjustable 60 mm pipe
  • Features: adjustable height settings to accommodate various age categories
  • Result: reduced pressure on the animal's neck and significantly lower feed wastage

Gates

To manage herd flow and facilitate livestock handling procedures, we implemented solutions with adjustable geometry.

  • Telescopic gates with adjustable length and a setting range of up to 1000 mm
  • Adjustable gates, 700 mm high, designed for cattle restraint and traffic control
  • Spring-loaded latches with a locking mechanism to prevent accidental opening by animals

Calving area

In this zone, it was essential to move away from a rigid layout and maintain the ability to quickly reconfigure the space.

  • Solution: Quick-release gate system
  • Capability: Allows for the rapid setup of individual or group pens depending on the farm’s current requirements

Technical standards and corrosion protection

Special emphasis is placed on equipment durability under conditions of high humidity, heavy mechanical loads, and ammonia fumes.

  • Material: S235JR grade steel with enhanced resistance to mechanical deformation
  • Protective coating: full immersion hot-dip galvanizing according to ISO 1461
  • Average zinc coating Thickness: 55 µm
  • Hardware: Heavy-duty fasteners and 10 mm thick-walled clamps
